Quite often, cargo does not follow a direct flight to the destination, but makes a forced "stop" in other cities and countries. The main thing is that during such parking there are no changes in subsequent transportation. However, they recently were with the cargo that was delivered by ACEX company.
Metal products delivering from Moscow to Taipei made a stop in Chengdu in southwest China. During shipment, the cargo was packed in wooden crates and metal barrels placed on wooden pallets. When it arrived in Chengdu and was placed in a transit warehouse, the airline changed the type of aircraft. Instead of a wide–body side, a narrow-body side was put, which has a weight limit of one cargo space - no more than 200 kg. While the weight of one wooden pallet with barrels is 512 kg.
"Sichuan Airlines" recommended to return the cargo back for repacking (disassembly of pallets). In this case, there would be serious financial losses, as well as damage to the reputation of the brand. During the negotiations, ACEX specialists found a solution. The airline employees carefully disassemble the pallets, load these barrels separately with the rest of the boxes into the plane, and upon arrival in Taipei, install the barrels back on the pallets. Thus, the number of seats and the gross weight of the cargo at the destination airport will be the same as at the departure airport, and the quality of the cargo and packaging will remain unchanged. The cargo was delivered to the recipient in one piece.
