Recently, ACEX staff received a request to transport samples of liquid technical polymers from Moscow to Dubai. By its characteristics, the cargo fell under the exemption and was to be shipped as non-hazardous. It was in the "non-hazardous" status that the cargo was prepared for shipment.
However, before being placed at warehouse, a terminal employee stated that since this special provision was not specified in the "Material Safety Data Sheet", the cargo should be shipped as dangerous goods. This option did not suit the ACEX specialists: in this case, the cost of transportation would have increased many times over.
"We scrutinized this claim and prepared a response explaining why it was decided to send this cargo as non-hazardous. As a result, the shipment was sent as originally planned - as non-hazardous - and was delivered on time," comments Vladimir Tsyntsar, Dangerous Goods Consignment Specialist at ACEX in Moscow.
