Not far from the village of Manych of the Rostov region there is a unique national park “Wild life of steppe” located on the area of 40 sq. km. This object is unique in the European part of Russia.
Animals here live in very comfortable and habitual conditions. In this park there are artesian wells with unique medical mineral water, ponds and lakes for wild birds and nestling places, fish, feeding water. Specialists here are engaged in artificial breeding of rare animals, rehabilitation of predatory birds and their reproduction in managed conditions.
Crowds of eco-tourists come to Rostov from all over the world to see rare steppe animals, ride Bactrian camels, try to milk wild mare, drink kumiss and mare’s milk. There is a lot to look at – flocks of llamas, yaks, bisons, camels and elands walking in freedom.
Presence of elands in the unique national park was secured by ACEX, the Rostov member of ACEX Alliance. 10 of such beautiful elands were delivered to the Rostov national park from the Czech Republic.
Viktor Molchanov, ACEX informed: “Any transportation of live animals is always connected with the whole range of difficulties. First of all, it is not a cheap kind of transportation; moreover, different quarantine restrictions play the role here. But we are not afraid of difficulties.”
The animals were travelling in a special vehicle (horse carrier) in the middle of December. Maria Moskvicheva, the Head of ACEX told that the main difficulty was to guarantee simultaneous readiness of the animals, documents and availability of transport. In addition, due to impossibility to move through the Ukraine, the route and the time on the animals’ presence inside the vehicle became longer.
“Our customs brokers had to work on Sunday so that the animals could be set free from the vehicle in the natural park the same day of the truck arrival. By the way, the driver of the horse carrier was a woman what is astonishing. But she delivered the animals with care, in a feminine way.”
Thanks to a woman-driver the animals arrived save and sound and met New Year holidays in a new place of residence. According to the workers of the national park the animals run in freedom and feel perfectly.
