When strawberries fly business class, everything is arranged in advance: the right temperature, priority handling, and immediate delivery upon arrival. This perfectly describes the shipment of three pallets of fresh Russian strawberries and honeysuckle berries from Moscow to Dubai.
CARGO-EXPRESS arranged the air transportation of 251 kg of fresh berries from Domodedovo Airport to Dubai. The shipment was booked on a flight with a controlled temperature range of +2 to +8°C, ensuring optimal conditions throughout the journey.
However, the shipment did not go entirely according to plan.
During cargo acceptance, the actual weight was confirmed at 251 kg instead of the declared 236 kg. For perishable cargo, even small changes like this require an immediate response. Our specialists promptly amended the export declaration, allowing the shipment to depart on schedule without delays.
Upon arrival in Dubai, the pallets were immediately transferred to a temperature-controlled dolly, preventing exposure to the high outdoor temperatures before delivery to the consignee.
As a result, the strawberries and honeysuckle berries arrived in Dubai fresh and in excellent condition.
Fresh Berries Are Among the Most Challenging Cargo Types
Transporting fresh berries internationally requires careful planning and precise execution. Their short shelf life, strict temperature requirements, and mandatory phytosanitary documentation make every stage of the logistics process critical.
Key Factors in Fresh Berry Transportation
Successful international berry transportation depends on:
- selecting the most suitable flight;
- maintaining the required temperature throughout the journey;
- obtaining a phytosanitary certificate;
- preparing export documentation;
- coordinating all mandatory customs and government inspections;
- resolving operational issues quickly to avoid shipment delays.
Only by combining all these elements can the freshness, appearance, and quality of the berries be preserved during international transportation.
Customer Information: At major international airports, temperature-controlled cargo dollies are used to handle perishable shipments on the airport apron. They transport cargo between the aircraft and the cargo terminal and may also be used for temporary storage during flight connections. These units typically maintain temperatures ranging from −20°C to +20°C, helping preserve the cold chain and protecting temperature-sensitive products from exposure to high ambient temperatures.
CARGO-EXPRESS provides international air freight services for perishable cargo, including fresh berries, fruits, vegetables, flowers, and other temperature-sensitive products.
We offer a complete logistics solution—from document preparation and flight booking to cold chain management and cargo monitoring until final delivery to the consignee.
